Planning a Rishikesh weekend from Delhi
Rishikesh is about 240 km from Delhi, around five to six hours by road depending on traffic. Most groups leave Delhi NCR on Friday evening or early Saturday morning in a private cab, so the whole weekend is spent there and not on the road.
A typical weekend is rafting on Saturday morning, an evening at the riverside camp with a bonfire, the Ganga aarti, and a slow Sunday of cafes and walks before driving back. The most popular rafting stretch is the 16 km run from Shivpuri.
Rafting usually runs from September to June and stops during the monsoon, when the river is too high. Riverside camps are busiest on long weekends, so book early if your dates fall around a holiday.
